When there are items in your Trash folder, you need to empty the Trash before the files are permanently deleted. To empty the Trash use one of the following three methods:
- From the menu bar, click Finder > Empty Trash.

- Click and hold the Trash icon on the dock until a menu appears, and select Empty Trash.

- When the menu bar says Finder in the top left, press Command + Shift + Delete.
A window will then appear asking if you are sure you want to empty the Trash. Select Empty Trash. You should hear a paper crumpling sound, and the Trash basket icon on the dock should now be empty.
